About Decktrace

Decks deserve to be read.

The deck you send is often the most important thing your company writes. We are building Decktrace so it arrives as a page that is easy to read on any screen, can be translated for your reader, and tells you how it was read.

The Aurora Robotics seed round deck as it is read: its pages turn from the cover to Traction to The ask, with four facts from its readers around it. The deck was opened again on a second visit from an approximate location near Berlin, Traction held the most time at 2:05, one reader reads it in Turkish by their own choice, and one reader asked a question on The ask.

Why we are building this

Every visit is measured, except the pitch.

Companies measure every visit to their website. Then they send their most important pitch as a file they cannot see: no way to know whether it was opened, which page mattered or who else ended up reading it.

Decktrace turns a deck into a web page that reads well on any screen, can be translated into your reader's language and shows how it was read. It works in 10 languages, including English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German and Arabic.

The Aurora Robotics deck sent two ways. As a file, it is unknown whether it was opened, how many pages were read, which page held the most time and whether anyone else read it; it stays in the language it was sent in, and questions come by email later. As a Decktrace page, it was opened on Monday at 09:12 from an approximate location near Berlin, all 7 of 7 pages were read, Traction held the most time at 2:05, one new reader appeared on the same link, it reads in English and Turkish, and questions arrive on the page.

What we believe

The principles we build by.

They decide what Decktrace does and, just as often, what it will not do.

  • Facts

    Facts over guesses.

We show what happened on each page, never a label for the reader.

  • Readers

    The reader comes first.

Easy to read on any screen, with a clear note of what is measured.

  • Links

    One link, kept current.

Update the deck once, and every reader opens the latest version.

  • Languages

    In their language.

10 languages. You approve every translation.

  • Privacy

    Private by default.

Questions stay between reader and sender, and you set who can open.

  • Control

    We draft, you publish.

Suggestions and translations stay drafts until you publish them.

How we build

Small, focused and in the open.

We are a small team building one product: decks that get read. We ship in small steps, put each change in front of early teams as it lands, and let what they tell us decide what comes next.

  • One product, built around the deck
  • Changes reach early teams as they ship
  • What early teams ask shapes the next release
  • We say plainly what is not decided yet
Decktrace as one product in early access, with six parts that all work on the same deck: web decks, the page readers open; reader analytics, how it was read; questions, asked on the page; translation, in the reader's language; smart suggestions, your next version; and import, from the PDF you already have.

The loop

Create, share, read, ask, improve.

Every deck goes around the same loop. Each turn starts from how the last version was read, so the next one answers what readers asked.

The loop drawn as a circle with five stops, create, share, read, ask and improve, and a dot travelling around it. In the middle, the Aurora Robotics deck moves from version 1 to version 2 to version 3, one version for every turn.
  1. Create

Start from a template, or bring your PDF.

  2. Share

Send one link that reads well on every screen, and let readers switch language.

  3. Read

See time per page, visits and approximate location as facts, not guesses.

  4. Ask

Readers ask on the page they are reading, and you answer in context.

  5. Improve

When you answer a question, Decktrace suggests where it belongs and drafts the addition. You decide what goes out.
